Some mini Bordeaux pastry (canel\u00e9s) and king cakes (galettes des rois) were just made before and after my vacations. Traditionally, the king cake is served on January 6th: the 12th day of Christmas. It is made of p\u00e2te feuillet\u00e9, puff pastry, and stuffed with a dense, creamy almond paste called frangipane. A f\u00e8ve, such as a figurine, is hidden inside. After the cake is cut, whoever gets the f\u00e8ve wins a crown and has good luck in the year!<\/p>
